IAN ALLEN (1935 - 2013)

All of us at BCSSA are saddened by the passing of Ian Allen, a former President and very long-time supporter of the organization. Ian passed away on March 1st, 2013, and our thoughts and prayers are with the Allen family.

Ian's involvement in BCSSA, and his impressive contributions to the organization, spanned three decades. Anyone who is, or has been, involved in BCSSA is a beneficiary of Ian's legacy; his unique and enduring commitment made the summer swimming community better for everyone. Ian was inducted into the BCSSA Pool of Fame in 2000 (in the "Builder" category), and a description of Ian's contributions to the organization can be viewed by clicking here. In 1997, BCSSA established a scholarship in honour of Ian, awarded annually to a BCSSA member for post-secondary education.

The Allen family has indicated that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stoke Recovery Association of BC, or to BCSSA's Ian Allen Scholarship. You may make a donation, in Ian's memory, to the Scholarship by clicking on the "Donate" button below, or by mailing a cheque, payable to "BC Summer Swimming Association", with "Ian Allen Scholarship" in the memo line, to BCSSA at 205-2323 Boundary Road, Vancouver, BC, V5M 4V8.

Kerry Sheppard,
President, BCSSA

Note: Tax receipts can't be issued for donations through PayPal or for cheques written directly to BCSSA. If you would like a tax receipt, please contact the Provincial Office for assistance.
