I am very pleased to announce that Joanne Lee has joined BC Summer Swimming Association as Full Stack Developer for the summer. Joanne will be mostly working remotely from her Vancouver home office but will occasionally be in-person at our Boundary street office location.

As Full Stack Developer, Joanne’s responsibilities include the review and updating of the BCSSA website as well as developing a Records and Results Database, similar to what we piloted during 2021.

Joanne is a past BCSSA swimmer and coach from the Burnaby Barracudas Summer Aquatic Club. Currently she is studying Computer Science at UBC.

She says, “I am so excited to join the BCSSA family again—now as a developer who can contribute to her passion for our aquatic sports from a different angle. I am looking forward to working with everyone!”

We are very lucky to have found someone with Joanne’s exemplary developer skills as well as experience with aquatic sports!

To reach Joanne, you can email her at joanne@bcsummerswimming.com.

Sean Cauley, BCSSA Director of Competitions has released revised Provincial Qualifying Times for both Individual events and Relay events.

Due to an oversight during editing, the 2022 Provincials Meet Package contains incorrect PQTs. The Provincial Meet Package will be revised and re-published as quickly as possible.

The Individual Event PQT is linked below and both Individual and Relays are also found under “Forms” >> “Coaches” on the BCSSA website.

The BCSSA 2022 Rules have been finalized and are now available to view digitally.

There will be copies printed and announcements will be made in the coming weeks regarding how to order them for your club.

A summary of the changes that were made will be made available next week, following the Spring Conference. The majority of the changes were in grammar, style and consistency.

The Rulebook can be viewed online at:
https://bcsummerswimming.com/clubs/6594/documents/548855

Thank you to everyone who helped in the production of the book.

The BC Summer Swimming Association welcomes all coaches, parents, officials, and volunteers to join us for this year’s SPRING CONFERENCE April 7-11, 2022.

We will have workshops, sessions, discussions, and games spread over 5 days in order to maximize our education while minimizing the amount of time we will spend in front of a screen in order to do so.

The schedule of speakers and workshops is diverse and offers an opportunity for anyone involved in summer swimming to learn something through our conference programming this year. If you cannot attend all the sessions you are interested in because of other commitments, the sessions will be recorded and made available to registrants following the conclusion of the conference.
