Week 1 of BCSSA's Covid Cup Programs

What a week!

We are so overwhelmed by the response to our virtual programs and I want to thank you all for your enthusiasm for this program!

These are the workshop sessions that we ran this past week… which was your favourite? Which do you want to see again?

Heart rate Monday: High Intensity Interval Training with Coach Robyn Lee (Coquitlam Sharks)
Teaching Tuesday: Mental Health & Wellness with Coach Brandon de Costa (NSWC)
Werk It Wednesday: Strength & Conditioning with Coach Bree Cooper (Salmon Arm Sockeyes)
Coaches Corner Thursday: Season Planning with LTAD with Coach Baylee Munro (Nanaimo White Rapids)

We had such a great response to our workshops that we added additional sessions of the HIIT and Strength fitness workshops on Monday and Wednesday!
And we noticed that there was a strong desire to chat socially with our friends during sessions, which can be challenging & distracting to the coaches leading the workshop, so we added 2 Social Chat sessions on Friday, with Penny moderating the groups. We’ll try this out for a couple of weeks and then re-assess how it goes.

Weekly Winners!
The winners from last week’s “Land Swimming” challenge are: Clara S., Rose E., Joel B.
The random draw winner from all those that participated last week is Henry H. from Comox Blue Devils Swim Club.

We will be starting to track club and region participation numbers this week. Since some people couldn’t get online last week, we wanted to make sure each club had equal opportunity for participation and to get their participation going. We will be tracking participation numbers against registration numbers so small and large clubs have equal opportunity to participate.

Week 2 programs
We have heard loud and clear that we need to open up the programs to larger numbers! So we now have 3 sessions on Monday & Wednesday for the different divisions.
Monday: Cardio Workout with Coach Olivia (North Delta Sunfish), 2 PM Div 1-2, 4 PM Div 3-4, 6 PM Div 5+
Tuesday: Maximizing your Training potential with Coach Baylee (Nanaimo White Rapids), 4 PM all Divisions
Wednesday: Flexibility for Diving (& more!) with Coach Kaelyn (North Shore Cruisers), 2 PM Div 1-2, 4 PM Div 3-4, 6 PM Div 5+
Thursday (* Coaches Corner, only Coaches!): Mental Health & Wellness, 4 PM (ONLY Coaches!)
Friday: Social Chats, 4 PM age 12 & under, 6 PM age 13+
